CJD Cancer OutReach, Inc., was formed in December 2004 as a
celebration of the life of Christopher John DiTomaso. CJD Cancer
OutReach, established itself as a charitable corporation under the laws and
statutes of the State of Maine in December 2006 and received tax exempt
status. Christopher was diagnosed with leukemia in November of 2003
and died a year later, one day before a bone marrow transplant. So Chris’s
death would not be in vain the immediate family came together in 2004 to
establish CJD Cancer OutReach, Inc.
The Mission Statement
The mission of CJD Cancer OutReach, Inc., is multi fold. Our number one mission is
caring for those who are sick. We provide financial assistance for cancer patients
who require additional finances while undergoing treatments. We provide support
and guidance to those afflicted and their families who are burdened. We support
those in need, to make a difficult situation a bit more tolerable. Lastly but not
inclusively, we support all researchers in their quest to rid the world of these horrible
cancers.
.
What we do
Currently we provide family members with the funds necessary for tissue typing. This
procedure is necessary to determine if the family member or friend is able to donate
bone marrow. Tissue typing outside of the immediate family members is not paid for
by most insurance companies. CJD Cancer OutReach is a 100% volunteer
organization. Our staff of volunteers have only one thing in mind. That is helping
those in need. To help mitigate the costs of typing, treatment and support. We try to
ease the burden on families. More often this, creates a climate that helps the patient
receive treatment with less stress and worry. Knowing that their family has the help
and a place to turn for knowledge and guidance is a relief. From providing
groceries or a counselor CJD Cancer OutReach is there every step of the way to
support you in any way necessary.
